Plastic Film Mulching Boosts Crop Yields, Transforms Dryland Farming
Plastic film mulching in dryland maize fields can increase soil temperature and moisture, leading to better seedling emergence rates. The study found that using plastic film in autumn was more effective than in spring, with higher coverage rates resulting in even better seedling emergence. In particular, full plastic film coverage in autumn led to a 23.44% increase in seedling emergence compared to no mulching.
