Soil acidification threatens tobacco crops in Chongqing karst area.
The study looked at the fertility of soil used to grow tobacco in a karst area in Chongqing. They found that the soil was slightly acidic, rich in organic matter and nitrogen, but lacking in available phosphorus. The soil had enough potassium, but overall fertility was not high. The researchers suggest that the area needs better farming practices, soil erosion control, pH regulation, and more phosphorus in fertilizer.
