Flood events in Yellow River basin drastically impact sediment flow to sea.
The study looked at how floods in the Yellow River basin affect the amount of sediment that flows into the sea. They found that more sediment from the basin during a flood means more sediment goes to the sea. Floods with lower sediment concentration carry more sediment to the sea than those with higher concentration. Floods from different areas have different impacts on sediment flow. Coarser sediment-producing areas have the biggest impact on sediment flow, while lower sediment-producing areas affect the flow ratio. Overall, the order of sediment flow from different areas goes from coarser to finer sediment-producing areas.
