The study looked at vegetation in Ningxia from 1981 to 2004. They found that vegetation in Helan Mountain and its eastern foot decreased, while the central arid region improved. Overall, vegetation in Helan Mountain got better, but worse at its eastern foot. The central arid region had better vegetation in autumn, but worse in summer. The southern mountain region improved. Precipitation in spring and summer was the main factor affecting vegetation in Ningxia, while temperature had less impact.
