The study looked at changes in coastal wetlands in central Jiangsu from 1977 to 2014 using satellite images. They found that most wetlands gained land, but some areas eroded. Reclamation (turning wetlands into land for human use) was happening faster than natural growth. Important ecological areas shrank, especially in Sheyang and Dafeng counties. Wetlands changed from bare land to aquaculture ponds and farms. Reclamation was most intense at ports and towns.
