Forest conservation drastically reduces soil erosion and water runoff in Fujian.
Forest conservation in northern Fujian significantly reduces soil erosion and runoff compared to bare land. The study used runoff plots to show that forest conservation leads to 1/30 of the annual runoff and 1/1,900 of the annual soil loss of bare land. This means that forest conservation plays a crucial role in soil and water conservation, especially during spring and summer, by regulating rainfall and reducing soil erosion.
