Triptolide Shields Liver from Pancreatitis Damage, Curbs Inflammation
The researchers wanted to see if a substance called triptolide could protect the liver from damage in severe acute pancreatitis. They used rats and gave them triptolide after inducing pancreatitis. They found that triptolide helped lower levels of harmful substances in the blood and reduced liver damage. Triptolide also decreased inflammation in the liver by blocking a protein called NF-κB. This study shows that triptolide could be a potential treatment for liver injury in severe acute pancreatitis.
