Southeast China towns in the Ming and Qing dynasties were important hubs for trade and business. Huizhou merchants, also known as Huishang, made these towns their main business centers and made a lot of money through various transactions. The economy of these towns played a big role in helping Huishang merchants accumulate wealth.
