NaCl stress stunts cucumber growth, Jinyou1 cultivar shows resilience.
Cucumber seedlings were exposed to different levels of salt stress to see how it affected their growth and certain substances in their cells. The higher the salt level, the slower the plants grew, but they produced more free proline and soluble protein. The key salt level for affecting cucumber growth was 100 mmol/L. One of the cucumber varieties tested, Jinyou1, was better at handling salt stress than the others.
