Land use changes in Suzhou Oases accelerate urbanization and harm environment.
The study analyzed changes in land use in the Suzhou Oases using satellite images and GIS technology. In 2000, most of the land was unused, with some used for farming and grassland. Over 12 years, cropland and urban areas increased, while grassland and woodland decreased. This shift indicates a trend towards urbanization and ecological decline. Different regions showed varying degrees of change, with some areas experiencing more rapid shifts in land use. The study used various indices to highlight these changes, showing the impact of human activities on the landscape over time.
