New missile technology maximizes destruction of enemy radar systems.
A new detonation mode for air-to-ground missiles with fragment warheads was developed to improve their destructive power. By varying the burst height based on the missile's trajectory angle, the researchers analyzed the relationship between detonation point and target. They established a region of destruction based on fragment density and kinetic energy, and created an optimization model to determine the best burst height for maximum target destruction. A simulation showed that this new mode significantly increases the probability of destroying radar antennas with a single missile.
