A rainwater treatment station was designed for highways passing through water source protection areas. The technology used a method similar to a biological stabilization pond to naturally treat initial rainwater. The design also included measures for collecting heavily polluted rainwater and managing emergencies on the highway. The improvements made to the technology were successfully applied to a highway segment in the Daqing-Guangzhou area.
