Drinking Pu'er Tea Boosts Bone Health and Calcium Absorption in Rats
Pu'er tea was given to rats to see how it affects their calcium and phosphorus levels. Rats were split into groups with different tea concentrations. After 8 weeks, it was found that medium tea concentration increased bone calcium, while high and low concentrations decreased bone phosphorus. Low and medium tea concentrations lowered blood calcium and calcium absorption efficiency, but increased bone calcium. In conclusion, drinking Pu'er tea can lead to more calcium in bones, but also lower blood calcium levels and calcium absorption efficiency.
