China's Inbound Tourism Growth Shows Random Patterns Except for Key Provinces
Spatial autocorrelation analysis was used to study the spatial pattern of inbound tourism increase in China from 1996 to 2004. The results showed that there was no overall spatial pattern in the data, except in 1997. Each year, one or two regions showed significant clustering or dispersion in tourism growth. From 2001 onwards, there were consistently two patterns: one clustered around Shanghai and one dispersed around Guangdong province.
