A new maize variety called Chengdan 50 was created by crossing two parent plants. It has a longer growing period, strong stalks, high yield, and good quality. In tests, it produced more corn than other varieties and showed resistance to diseases. It was approved for use in 2012 and is best for planting in areas with warm temperatures.
