High Zn content in sweet rice may lead to longer fragrance retention.
The study looked at two types of sweet rice grown in different areas to see how the levels of 11 microelements affected the rice quality. They found that Jiangyong Sweet Rice had higher levels of Zn, Mn, and Cr compared to the other rice variety. The rice quality varied depending on the variety and where it was grown. The researchers also discovered that the sweet rice from its country of origin could stay fragrant for a long time due to the higher Zn content in the water used for irrigation.
