Cheaper, Safer Coal-Based Fuel Poised to Transform Energy Landscape
A new type of coal-based fuel was created by turning raw coal into granular form with lower moisture content. This new fuel is more stable, easier to transport, and has better slurry formation properties. By adding dry pulverized coal to common coal water slurry, the moisture content of the resulting granular fuel can be controlled. The concentration of the fuel can be increased by adding a small amount of dispersant. The study found that the concentration of the fuel varies depending on the amount of pulverized coal added.
