New filtration method removes manganese from water, improving safety and aesthetics.
Manganese in water causes color issues. Manganese sand filtration can remove it. Residual chlorine and pH affect manganese removal. Space velocity and alum dosage also play a role. More chlorine helps remove more manganese, but controlling chlorine is tricky. Best results at pH 7.5. Optimal manganese concentration on manganese sand is 0.3mg/L.
