Climate change leads to significant decrease in evaporation in South China.
The study looked at changes in evaporation in the Dongjiang River watershed in South China from 1956 to 2000. They found that pan evaporation decreased significantly, with a sharp drop in 1986. This decrease was mainly due to less sunlight, shorter sunshine duration, and lower wind speeds. The temperature difference between day and night also played a role in the evaporation decrease.
