The scientists studied how adding short aramid fiber and silicate nano-short fiber to a type of rubber called HNBR affects its properties. They found that adding aramid fiber increased the stiffness of the rubber, while adding more or longer fibers improved its strength and toughness. The rubber's ability to stretch and compress also improved significantly when silicate fibers were added.
