Optimal maize planting density boosts yield and quality for farmers.
The study looked at how different planting densities affect the growth of maize plants. They tested three types of maize at four different planting densities. The results showed that plant height, ear position, ear row number, ear length, and barren tip were influenced by planting density, while ear diameter, row grain number, and 100-grain weight were not affected much. As planting density increased, maize yield first went up and then down. The best planting density for one type of maize was 75,000 plants per hectare, while for the other two types, it was 67,500 plants per hectare.
