The study focused on cleaning sediment in the Tongguan section of the Yellow River from 1996 to 2000 to address issues with Sanmenxia Reservoir and rising Tongguan elevation. The cleaning improved channel conditions, increased sediment transport capacity, and reduced elevation during floods, helping to stabilize Tongguan elevation. Even under challenging sediment discharge conditions, the cleaning significantly lowered Tongguan elevation during flood season and maintained stability.
