Human activities responsible for 85% of annual runoff decline in river basin.
The annual runoff in the Luanhe River Basin has decreased over the past 47 years due to less rainfall and human activities like building dams and changing land use. Human activities had a bigger impact on reducing runoff than changes in precipitation. From 1984 to 2006, human activities caused 84.42% of the runoff reduction, while precipitation changes only caused 15.58%. Before 1983, environmental changes had less of an impact on runoff compared to after 1983.
