The researchers analyzed the inflow runoff of Three Gorges Reservoir and found that the reduced inflow is a normal cyclical fluctuation. Due to the regulation of large reservoirs, the annual distribution of runoff changed since 1990. The water storage period of Three Gorges reservoir needs to move up to early September based on runoff data from 1991 to 2009.
