Optimal treatment for cotton straw compost reduces CO2 emissions from fires.
Cotton straw compost was studied to see how it matures over time. Different treatments were tested to find the best way to make the compost mature quickly and effectively. Adding nitrogen helped the compost stay hot for longer, and a mix of cotton straw, nitrogen, and microbial agents was the best treatment, finishing in 84 days. Specific measures like C/N ratio, TOC, TN, and temperature were good indicators of maturity. Using cotton straw compost can help reduce CO2 emissions from burning it.
