Revolutionizing Chinese urban planning with New Urbanism principles for livable communities.
The article discusses how the New Urbanism theory, aimed at improving communities and reducing urban sprawl, is being applied in China. It compares differences between China and Western countries in terms of urban development, community design, and transportation. The study highlights issues with blindly copying design principles and proposes five planning principles for building New Urbanism communities in China. These principles focus on fair urban roads, shared community resources, accessible public spaces, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation.
