Cryopreserved mouse eggs could revolutionize fertility treatments for women worldwide.
Researchers studied how well mouse egg cells can survive being frozen for future use. They tested two ways of freezing the cells, one called procedure freezing and the other vitrification. The eggs were treated with different substances to protect them during freezing. Results showed that the method of freezing didn't affect the egg survival rate, but using DMSO as a protective substance was better than Glycerol. Both early and mature egg cells showed similar survival rates, but the survival rate of early-stage eggs was higher. Researchers found that using DMSO was the best way to freeze mouse egg cells for future use.
