New study reveals impact of Three Gorges Reservoir on land resources
The Three Gorges Reservoir in China has a 30-meter high water-level-fluctuating zone (WLFZ) along its banks, covering about 300 km2. Using GIS and RS techniques, researchers analyzed the land resources in the WLFZ based on climate, water depth, slope, and soil textures. They classified the WLFZ into six land models, including rock exposed regions, soft rock exposed regions, and unique landscapes. This classification provides a basis for the rational development of the WLFZ.
