Dust storms in north China's Mu Us Sandland are caused by wind erosion and are a major way sand is removed in dry areas. A model was created to show how climate affects the frequency of these dust storms. By looking at weather data from six stations over many years, researchers found that climate has a big impact on how often dust storms happen in the area.
