The rural land policy in China has gone through three stages since the establishment of the CCP, focusing on ownership and operation systems. The current household contract system has both positive effects and disadvantages. Future reforms should clarify collective land ownership, establish rural land markets, and develop modern agriculture to maximize efficiency.
