New research reveals prime locations for oil and gas reservoirs.
The researchers analyzed sandbodies in the upper Es4 of the Shengtuo area in the Bohai Bay Basin. They used seismic, logging, and geochemical data to study provenances and sandbody types. Two provenance systems were identified, leading to different types of sandbodies like nearshore subaqueous fans and channel turbidites. The best reservoir potential was found in braided channel sandbodies and channel turbidites.
