Maize straw return boosts soil fertility and wheat yield by 7.47%!
The study looked at how different amounts of maize straw returning can affect soil fertility and winter wheat yield. The researchers found that returning straw can increase soil organic matter, reduce nitrogen loss, and improve soil microbial activity. This leads to better soil nutrient supply and increased crop yield. By applying 138 kg/ha of nitrogen and returning 9000 kg/ha of maize straw, soil fertility can be enhanced, and winter wheat yield can increase by 7.47%.
