Rainfall has a major impact on runoff and sediment in watersheds.
The study looked at how rainfall and land use affect runoff and sediment in the Losses plateau watershed. Using a model, they found that rainfall has a bigger impact on runoff than land use, with rainfall contributing 84.20% and land use 28.63% to runoff in a year. In the rainy season, rainfall has an even greater effect on runoff. The amount of runoff and sediment is linked to annual precipitation and forest cover.
