Water division operation impacts safety and stability of large water transfer channels.
Water division operation in large water transfer channels affects safety and stability. A study on the South-to-North Water Transfer Project used a flow model to analyze water level changes with different flow rates and gate operation modes. Results showed that water levels fluctuate quickly and over long distances when water is divided in one step. To maintain water transfer safety, a method to reduce flow decrease rate and improve operation was suggested. This can help guide the operation of flow diversion gates in the project.
