The researchers analyzed karst rocky desertification in Guizhou using remote sensing images and a 3S platform. They found that out of the total karst area in Guizhou, 41,091 km2 is rocky desertification land. The severity of rocky desertification is highest in the west and south of Guizhou, and has been increasing at an annual rate of 2.88 percent.
