Reducing Nitrogen Fertilizer Boosts Rice Yield and Economic Benefits.
The study looked at how different levels of nitrogen fertilizer affected the yield and nitrogen use efficiency of a type of super rice called Shennong 265. They found that reducing nitrogen by 30% compared to the local standard amount led to a slight increase in seed setting rate and grain weight. Although overall yield decreased slightly, nitrogen efficiency improved, showing that less nitrogen can be used to achieve good results. This suggests that reducing nitrogen fertilizer can help increase yield and economic benefits for farmers growing this type of rice.
