Soil organic matter boosts crop growth and enzyme activity, revolutionizing agriculture.
The study looked at how the amount of organic matter in soil affects the levels of soil microbes and enzymes. They tested different soils with varying organic matter content and found that soil microbes increased with more organic matter, especially in soil with high organic matter like Bean soil. Soil enzymes like invertase and catalase also increased with more organic matter. During maize growth, soil microbes and enzymes were highest during the jointing stage and lowest during grain-filling, but peaked again at harvest.
