Ancient Sediment Patterns Unveil Secrets of Ordos Basin's Past Environment.
The article analyzes the sedimentary facies of the Cretaceous Luohe and Huanhe-Huachi formations in the Ordos Basin. Different types of sedimentary facies were identified, such as alluvial fans, eolian, braided fluvial, desert, lacustrine, delta, meandering fluvial, and interbedded eolian sandstone facies. The distribution of these facies is influenced by the basin's configuration, with sandstone beds thinning towards the center of the basin and sediments coarsening towards the north and east. In the northern part of the basin, sandstone beds thin to the east and northeast, while in the southern part, they extend in a north-south direction and thin to the east and south.
