Chongqing Urban Residents Shift Spending Habits as Incomes Rise.
The article analyzes how urban residents in Chongqing spent their money from 2000 to 2008. By studying their income and expenses, researchers found that as people earned more, they saved more and spent less of their income. Different groups of people spent money on different things, with food being the most important expense followed by clothing. To improve the economy, it is suggested to increase urban residents' income, boost consumption, and create a strong social security system.
