Groundbreaking study reveals technology's pivotal role in China's plummeting energy intensity.
The research aimed to understand why energy use efficiency changed in different regions of China from 1995 to 2005. By using a mathematical method called LMDI, they broke down the factors affecting these changes. The results showed that the biggest reason for the energy efficiency increase was improvements in technology made within different regions. This means that within China, advancements in how energy is used played the most significant part in using energy more efficiently over that ten-year period.
