No-tillage farming boosts crop productivity and water efficiency on sloping land.
The study looked at how different ways of farming affect water use and crop productivity on sloping land. They tested liquorice, wheat, and indigowoad root crops. Results showed that no-tillage with straw cover improved soil moisture and crop efficiency compared to traditional methods. Wheat yield was highest with no-tillage, followed by traditional methods, and lowest with no-tillage plus straw cover. Indigowoad root yield was not affected much by straw cover. Overall, no-tillage methods were better for water use and crop productivity on sloping land.
