Ancient Sedimentary Discoveries Unveil Evolution of Eastern Junggar Basin Landscapes
The researchers studied the sedimentary characteristics of the Jurassic Badaowan Formation in the Dishuiquan area. They found three main sedimentary facies: braided river, braided river delta, and lacustrine. These facies contained various subfacies and microfacies. The evolution model proposed includes a sequence of braided river, lake, and braided river delta facies. The sediment source shifted over time, leading to the development of different sedimentary environments.
