Rapid increase in construction land threatens ecological safety in Yangtze River.

A study was done on changes in land use in Guiyang since 1993. They used GIS and RS to analyze the changes. The results showed that grassland decreased, construction area increased a lot, forest land increased, cultivated land decreased, and water area increased. Cultivated land changed to woodland and construction land, grassland changed to forest and water, and forest land changed to construction land. The main driving force was how to use land resources for economic development.
