A collision avoidance and ranging system for mine locomotives was developed using laser technology to improve accuracy and reduce costs. The system, based on a microcomputer and timing chip, was tested at distances of 20-100m with an error of only 0.22m. After correction, the errors were less than 0.03m, meeting the requirements for safe locomotive operation.
