A study in Hebei province identified winter wheat varieties with high drought resistance at the seedling stage. By using a special treatment and analyzing 20 traits, researchers found that some varieties like 'Zhongmai 175' and 'Shiluan 02-1' showed strong drought resistance. They also discovered that traits like root weight, leaf length, and water content were important for determining drought resistance in winter wheat. This information can help farmers choose the best wheat varieties for areas prone to drought.
