Decline in Runoff and Sediment Transport Reveals Environmental Impact in China.
The study analyzed runoff and sediment data in the Weihe watershed in Shaanxi Province from 1956 to 1996. It found that runoff and sediment transport mainly occur during high-water seasons with concentrated distribution. Overall, runoff and sediment transport decreased from the 1950s to the 1990s with significant year-to-year variations. The study also revealed a close relationship between runoff, sediment, and environmental factors.
