Optimizing Nitrogen Use Boosts Rice Yield and Quality for Better Food.
The study looked at how different amounts and ratios of nitrogen fertilizer affect the yield and quality of two types of rice. They found that for the type of rice with heavier panicles, the best yield was with 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare and a ratio of 7 parts nitrogen to 3 parts other nutrients. For the type of rice with more panicles, the best yield was with 120 kg of nitrogen per hectare and the same ratio. Using the right amount of nitrogen can improve the quality of the rice, especially how it cooks and tastes. In this experiment, using 128 kg of nitrogen per hectare gave the best quality rice.
