New study reveals nitrogen form impact on wheat photosynthesis and yield.
Different forms of nitrogen affect photosynthesis and spike development in wheat cultivars. The study tested different nitrogen forms on wheat plants in pot experiments. Results showed that using N-NO3- on strong gluten wheat reduced CO2 concentration in leaves but increased photosynthetic efficiency. This suggests photoinhibition was not happening. Each wheat cultivar responded differently to the nitrogen forms, impacting photosynthetic characteristics and spike properties.
