New construction techniques revolutionize building of Nanjing Dashengguan Changjiang River Bridge.
The Nanjing Dashengguan Changjiang River Bridge on the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway was built using innovative construction techniques. The bridge is made of steel truss arches and girders, with spans of different lengths. The construction process involved deepwater foundations, steel girder manufacturing, transportation, storage, pre-assembly, and anti-corrosion coating. High-strength bolt connections were used, and the girders were erected and closed with high accuracy. By using new materials, structures, equipment, and workmanship, the construction challenges were overcome, and the bridge was successfully completed with a smooth midspan closure.
