Ecological forest management in Beijing faces critical challenges and needs reform.
Forest farmers around Beijing were surveyed about their attitudes towards managing ecological forests. The study found that farmers' personal and family characteristics, as well as their attitudes towards ecological forest management, influenced how forest managers are selected. Problems identified include unclear responsibilities, rights, and benefits among stakeholders, a perception of ecological compensation as welfare, and a lack of professionalism in forest management. The study suggests improvements such as establishing ecological forest management laws and clarifying stakeholder responsibilities and compensation frameworks.
